The growing quantities of agricultural residues, looking at the global perspective, have resulted in by-products, such as straw, stalks etc., which are not used for animal feed, bedding, fertiliser or other ecological purposes. In some areas of the world, the surplus is disposed or burned under uncontrolled conditions with a negative impact on the global environment.
At the same time, the need for building materials is growing concurrently to the growth in world population and living standard. Viable forestry programs cannot satisfy the need alone, and a reduction of the worlds total forest areas, inclusive the rain forest, will have a disastrous impact on the global ecological balance.
This imbalance is especially dangerous in countries with growth in both living standard and population combined with limited forest areas, as for example China. A better use of the residues from the agricultural sector can substitute and rectify an over-consumption of wood.
The vision of the research and development at ABCo (Agro Biomass Consult), which also administrates the technology, is a better global exploitation of the easy accessible, renewable resources, mainly from the agricultural sector, on self-supporting commercial conditions.
The vision will not only help the environment, but also create economic growth in farming areas, close to the raw materials, by establishing new industries and create permanent employment for new generations, who can built up a meaningful existence in rural areas.
All through the development period of BioCore, the commercial level of the products self-supporting ability, has been essential when allocating resources for further research.
